UK Biodiversity Action Plan (UK BAP)
The UK Government signed the Convention on Biological Diversity at the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro in 1992, and in so doing gave a commitment to the conservation of biodiversity in the UK. The UK BAP is the means to achieving this ambitious target. The most important and threatened habitats and species have been identified and plans prepared to enable conservation.
The Wildlife Trusts have worked at both the national and local level to support this process and have helped prepare and implement these action plans. At county level, local BAPs have been prepared and particularly vulnerable habitats and species have been targeted. The WildCare Farm Wildlife Action Plans will use the local BAPs to identify priorities and will ensure that all Waitrose dairy farmers will be working to help meet their county's BAP targets.
