As with every box in the Woodstone® range, the construction of material used ensures longevity for the box, unlike traditional wooden nest boxes which are subject to deterioration.
The Woodstone® material also ensure the nest boxes safeguard against attacks from predators including woodpeckers, cats and squirrels. The material insulates the nest which creates a more consistent internal temperature.
The box is incorporated into the wall and then covered with the building materials that form the building's outer skin, leaving an entrance hole that is at least 30mm tall and 60mm wide. Can also be used to help other species by simply altering the size of the entrance hole that is left open. A gap of around 35mm or so will help hole nesting species such as House Sparrows or members of the tit family. Leaving most of the entrance exposed and siting below 5 metres can help Robins, wagtails and even Black Redstarts in areas where the species is known to breed.
