To collect insects from bushes, hold the beating tray into the foliage and beat the area above with a stick or something similar. Insects that are clinging to the branches and underside of the leaves will drop off onto the cover and can easiliy be seen against the white background.
Transfer the insects to Bug Viewing pots for closer study.
