General Manager

Senior operations & commercial leadership role
Salary: £65,000 – £80,000 per annum
Hours: 8am–5pm, Monday–Friday (1-hour unpaid break)
Holiday: 22 days plus UK Bank Holidays
Reports to: Directors

The General Manager ensures the smooth, efficient, and commercially focused running of Wildcare. You’ll lead day-to-day operations across sales, purchasing, marketing, warehousing, and customer service, with a strong focus on performance, collaboration, and growth.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day operations across sales, purchasing, marketing, warehousing, and customer service.
  • Monitor performance metrics and drive improvements in productivity, service quality, and processes.
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety, environmental, and industry standards.
  • Support revenue growth and key accounts in partnership with the Sales Manager.
  • Oversee marketing activity via the Marketing Manager to reach the right audiences effectively.
  • Provide direction on purchasing to maintain supply, control costs, and strengthen supplier relationships.
  • Lead, coach, and develop managers; support recruitment, onboarding, and performance management.
  • Contribute to business planning, budgeting, and key projects (e.g. systems and operational improvements).
  • Represent Wildcare professionally with customers, suppliers, and at external meetings/events.
