Dormouse Footprint Tracking Complete Kit - 20 Tunnels and Accessories

Dormouse footprint tracking tunnels are a new method for dormouse surveying developed by PTES to detect the presence of hazel dormice (Muscardinus avellanarius) in various habitats, including hedgerows, woodlands, and scrub areas. This method offers a non-invasive and efficient alternative to traditional survey techniques, providing higher detection rates without disturbing the animals.

The tunnel consists of a square plastic tube with a flat plywood insert, and is attached to the underside of a branch in a similar way to a dormouse nest tube. A piece of paper and ink pad are positioned onto the insert, so that when an animal walks over the ink pad it leaves its footprints on the paper. Dormouse footprints are sufficiently distinctive that they can be readily identified from wood mice and other small arboreal mammals.
