Which mammals use your school grounds? A new and innovative survey tool to track footprints of small to medium mammals. The tunnels are placed along hedgerows or other edge habitat overnight, and baited so that hedgehogs, and other small mammals, leave behind footprints as they safely pass through to eat the bait.
The bait is placed in the centre of the base insert with a patch of powder paint mixed with vegetable oil placed either side. A sheet of paper is then placed at each end of the insert, ensuring that tracks are recorded whichever way the animal enters and leaves.
Pack contains: 10 tunnels (120 x 120 cm), 10 plastic inserts (120 x 25 cm), 20 fixing pins, 10 pots of black powdered paint, 5 FSC 'British Mammal Tracks and Signs' charts. You will need to provide suitable bait and vegetable oil to mix with the powder paint.
Massive savings when ordering in bulk. Buy this 10-piece kit and save over £40!
Additional kits available to order.
Included with each tunnel: 10 x tunnels(120x120cm approx), 10 x plastic inserts (120x25cm approx), 20 x metal pins, 5 x pots of black powdered paint, 5 x FSC British mammal tracks and signs chart. You will need to provide suitable bait and vegetable oil to mix with the powder paint
When placing the tunnels in the field it is best to weigh the tunnel down or wedge between two points as it is light and will blow around with the wind.
