Schwegler 22 Little Owl Box
The Schwegler 22 is a unique nest box, providing a small dark place for Little Owls to nest in. The nest box has excellent ventilation for the Owl and its young inside.
We recommend that at least three nest boxes are used and that these are positioned next to each other as the birds will use one or more to store food, and the youngsters will also use them for shelter.

Why are nest boxes important?
Natural nest sites are being lost having devastating consequences for bird species. Birds are an essential component of functioning ecosystems and have a direct impact on human populations and millions of other species. It is therefore important to provide our feathered friends with a home.

SPECIES: Little Owl
SITING: Site on almost all kinds of trees except cherry, because the cherry harvest coincides with the time when the young are still at the nest site. The access for the birds should always face the trunk.
Recommended bedding: Rough sawdust or wood shavings and a mixture of sand and sawdust are ideal as bedding.

MAINTENANCE: The box has a large flap for inspection and cleaning purposes.
