The Schwegler Swift Box No.18 is a practical and good-looking Nest Box. It has become accepted by the birds and is highly effective when installed under the eaves of buildings.

Why are nest boxes important?
Natural nest sites are being lost having devastating consequences for bird species. Birds are an essential component of functioning ecosystems and have a direct impact on human populations and millions of other species. It is therefore important to provide our feathered friends with a home.

SITING:
It can be attached by screws to walls or in an overhead position on external façades or under the roofs of all kinds of buildings, for example, houses, industrial buildings, churches, road structures, walls, or even cliffs and rock faces. Since the chipboard panel is moisture-resistant but not rainproof, it should always be placed under overhanging eaves or in some other sheltered site.
We recommend painting the angled board with exterior wall paint but to leave the bowl as supplied in order to improve thermal insulation and provide a better grip for the Birds. The angled board makes it much easier to install, even on difficult sites, because any sawing, drilling, or screwing can easily be carried out.
MAINTENANCE: The entire nest can be removed from the frame. When it is replaced the nest is locked back into position using the angled nails.
Lieux appropriés : Le support en bois ne résiste pas à la pluie pendant une longue période. Le nichoir n° 18 devrait toujours être fixé, comme les nids à hirondelles, sous une avancée de toit et à l'abri des intempéries.
Nettoyage : ne pose aucun problème, vu que le nichoir peut entièrement être décroché de son support. Après l'avoir replacé, le nichoir est de nouveau fixé avec des clous coudés.
