Schwegler 2FE Wall-Mounted Bat Shelter - Pack of 2
The Schwegler Wall-Mounted Bat Shelter 2FE (2 pack) is a compact woodcrete roost designed for use as both a summer hideaway and a winter roost. Suitable for a range of bat species, it provides a simple and effective solution where crevice-style roosting habitat is required.
In summer, species such as pipistrelles, whiskered bats and barbastelles use the shelter as a daytime roost. In winter, it can also be used by cave-hibernating species when installed in suitable frost-free environments.
Key Features
- Preformed internal clinging levels to support a range of bat species
- Suitable for use as both a summer roost and winter shelter
- Compact, wall-mounted design for buildings and structures
- Maintenance-free design with droppings falling clear of the shelter
- Supplied as a pack of two units
Construction
The 2FE is made from SCHWEGLER wood-concrete, a durable material that provides stable internal conditions. When installed externally, it can be painted with an air-permeable paint if required.
Siting & Installation
The shelter can be fixed directly to wood, brick, stone or concrete surfaces using two screws. If the mounting surface is uneven, sealing the edges with silicone or insulating tape is recommended to reduce draughts.
For summer use, install on a south or east-facing wall. For winter use, position in frost-free locations such as cellars, bunkers, bridges, caves or unheated buildings.
Maintenance
The shelter is maintenance-free. Droppings fall out naturally, and occupancy can be checked using a torch without disturbance.

SPECIES: During the summer months the common pipistrelle, whiskered bat, and barbastelle are among the species which will roost in the 2FE as a daytime hideaway. Daubenton's bat, Natterer's bat, and the Brown long-eared bat will also use it, often sleeping in small groups.
SITING: Installing the 2FE is very easy using just two screws to fix it to a wood, brick, stone, or concrete wall. If the wall surface is uneven we recommend sealing the three edges of the 2FE with silicone, foam insulating tape, or a similar method. This will ensure it is free from draughts, which are preferred by bats.
For using the 2FE as a summer home, mount it on a wall surface facing south or east. For winter use, install it in a location free from ice and frost such as damp cellars, bunkers, bridges, or caves. You can also install it in an attic or other unheated room.
MAINTENANCE: The 2FE is maintenance-free since Bats’ droppings simply fall out. A torch is all you need to check if it is occupied.
