Transcend SDHC memory cards can be used with most electronic recording equipment for data storage as long as the equipment you are using has an SD card slot. We always endeavour to supply cards which are compatible with the equipment we supply and due to restrictions on some of the bat detectors we always make sure that they are class 4 or above.

All Transcend SDHC Cards supplied by Wildcare are Class 10.

Download speed will vary depending on the size and class of the card but as a rough guide it can range between 12MB/s and 30MB/s.

Do not force Flash storage devices into connectors.

Flash card or USB Flash drive connectors are unidirectional. This means that the Flash storage device must be inserted in one direction only; if you cannot insert the drive or card, do not force it in. This will prevent damage to the Flash storage device or the socket.

Always make backups of your data.

Flash storage devices are not infallible and can have their data damaged due to many different factors. It is good pratice to backup important information on another data storage device.

Tip from WIldlife Acoustics:

Every time the SM2 starts a recording session, one of the things it does it to look at the expected disk space needed for that upcoming session and look at the available card space on each card in turn to see if that space is available.   For non-triggered recordings this is easy to calculate and for triggered recordings the unit makes some assumptions on how many triggers there will be to estimate the space needed.

If the customer is recording in very large blocks this can cause the recording to move over to the next card.  In the end if there are not as many triggers as it estimates this will leave empty space on the card.  Our suggestion is to record in repeated small blocks (say 30 minutes as an example) and loop.  This should maximize the disk space used.
