This net is a smaller version of our large professional pond dipping net, which is still robust and large enough to carry out proper GCN or other aquatic sampling. The construction is essentially the same but the frame is slightly smaller at 200mm wide. As a stock item we offer this net with a softwood handle and 2-3mm net mesh which is suitable for amphibians.
The 200mm wide aluminium frame that sits around the outside of the net saves the top band of tough nylon from wearing out so quickly, as it takes the brunt of the scrapes and knocks against the rocks and debris inevitably found in ponds, lakes and rivers.

Great Crested Newts are protected by law and surveys should only be carried out by professional ecologists with a 'Newt Licence'.
