The Vivara Pro WoodStone Oval Nest Box is a durable, general-purpose nest box designed for small garden birds. Part of the professional Vivara Pro range, it is made from WoodStone (a blend of concrete and FSC-certified wood fibres), providing a long-lasting, weather-resistant nesting site with excellent insulation.
The insulating and breathable WoodStone material helps maintain a stable internal temperature, reducing the extremes often found in traditional wooden nest boxes. This creates favourable nesting conditions and offers added protection from predators, contributing to improved breeding success.
Entrance Size Options
28 mm entrance: Suitable for smaller cavity-nesting species such as blue tits and coal tits. This size may also be used by great tits and tree sparrows where appropriate.
32 mm entrance: Suitable for slightly larger songbirds including great tits, nuthatches, pied flycatchers, crested tits and tree sparrows.
Design & Construction
The oval design is popular with birds and incorporates built-in predator protection. A removable front panel allows for inspection and cleaning outside the nesting season. The WoodStone material does not rot or deteriorate over time and comes with a long service life, making it well-suited to long-term use in gardens, parks and woodland edges.
Installation
The nest box should be installed at a height of approximately 1.5 to 3 metres above ground level. For fixing to trees, the use of an aluminium nail is recommended, as it is robust, does not rust and helps minimise damage to the tree.

Maintenance: Birds will clean their own nests before each breeding season, however we suggest that you clean them out at the end of the breeding season, around October time. In doing this you may encourage them to return the following year. This box has a removable front panel for easy cleaning.
