White Compact LED Skinner Moth Trap

This LED Moth Trap uses 2 x 2W LED units that have been extensively tested in the UK, Ireland, Spain and the USA. It offers a lightweight, energy-efficient alternative to traditional actinic bulb traps, making it particularly suitable for fieldwork where portability and reduced power consumption are important.

The key advantages of this LED model are its lower running costs and reduced power requirements. Because LEDs draw significantly less power than actinic bulbs, the trap can be operated using a standard USB power bank rather than a heavier field battery. A 26,800mAh power bank will run the trap for approximately 12 hours.

In the UK, catch rates are generally lower than comparable actinic bulb traps. However, in regions with higher moth densities, such as parts of mainland Europe and beyond, this trap performs well and is particularly suited to travel and survey work abroad.

The body is manufactured from specialist white polypropylene designed to reflect UV light rather than absorb it, maximising light efficiency within the trap. UV protective spectacles are recommended when operating the trap.
