This robust and durable Woodstone Hedgehog Shelter is both insulating and breathable. Designed to ensure the safety of hedgehogs during hibernation and to serve as a hiding place during the summer. Removable lid allows for cleaning and inspection.
The substantial woodstone (concrete and wood fibre mix) design keeps hedgehogs inside safe from accidental harm through strimming or mowing, and will not be overturned by badgers.

The hedgehog house should be placed in a quiet, sheltered area and ideally covered with dried leaves, twigs and other vegetation. Add some hay or dry leaves inside for the hedgehogs to make their nest with.
You can check if a house is occupied by placing something light in front of the entrance - if it is moved overnight then the house is in use.
Take care not to disturb the house during the summer - if it is being used as a nursery the female could abandon the nest.
If the house has is unoccupied after winter use (lat March to early April) you can clean it. If you treat the house for fleas make sure only to use organic Pyrethrum powers suitable for birds. Dog and cat treatments are too strong and may kill a hedgehog.
Hedgehogs will enjoy supplementary feeing. If you can't find specialist hedgehog food at your local garden centre you can substitute wet or dried cat food. And don't forget to provide a bowl of fresh water for your hogs!
