The Swift Brick Bird Box is an integrated nesting solution designed to be built directly into new builds or renovation projects, helping to support declining swift populations within the built environment. Discreet and long-lasting, it provides a permanent nesting space without altering the appearance or footprint of a building.

Suitable for timber frame construction, this maintenance-free swift box can be supplied with brick-fronted finishes in stretcher bond as standard, with other bond options available. It is also available with a stainless steel mesh front for use in rendered walls, stonework or cladding. A basic version can be fitted behind weatherboarding or into studwork, offering flexibility across a wide range of build types.

Design Features

The box features a crescent-shaped entrance positioned to one side of the front, measuring 35 mm high by 76 mm wide, allowing safe access for swifts while deterring larger birds. Internally, the box includes a roughened floor surface and an integrated nest cup to support nesting behaviour. Once installed, the box is completely maintenance free.

The base of the box is manufactured from 100% recycled polypropylene and includes two drainage holes to help keep the interior dry. Brick slips are bonded to the front using exterior-grade tile adhesive, and the front is secured with stainless steel retaining screws. Removable fronts can be supplied on request where monitoring access is required.

Installation & Positioning

Swift Brick boxes should be installed high on buildings, ideally between 5 and 10 metres above ground level and close to the eaves. Correct height and positioning are essential for successful uptake by swifts, and we are happy to offer guidance to support your project planning.
