If you want to encourage the breeding of bats have a look at the Causa Maternity Box. Its extra-large capacity and four chambers make it the ideal bat roost.
Key Features:
- Four chambers
- Painted black for maximum heat absorption
- Rough-textured ladder to enable bats to enter the cavity with ease
- Sloped roof to permit rainwater runoff
- Suitable for external walls or trees
Due to the size of this box, delivery will be made on a pallet
Why do we need to protect bats?
Bats play an important role within our environment. As well as performing some pollination, bats are a natural control of insect populations as these are their main food source. Bats are also a good indicator species of environmental health, with changes in populations reflecting local biodiversity.

SITING: For best results, we recommend you site your bat box:
- In a sturdy tree or building façade where bats have been seen or are known to feed.
- As high as possible (at least 3m), with a clear 'flight-path' for access.
- Preferably hang several boxes together.
- In a sheltered area, ideally south or southwest facing to ensure a few hours of sun.
- Do not place the cabinet under or in artificial light.
- Avoid placing where the rain can directly access the box.
- Near a wet area, such as a pond or marshy environment which will attract the insects favoured by bats and also provides somewhere for them to drink.
Hang the bat box with the supplied screws. In the back of the box, there is a "keyhole" where the mounted screw can be hooked. The pre-drilled hole in the landing board allows you to secure the bat box.
