Elekon MC32W Microphone Cable for Wind Turbine
The Elekon MC32W provides easy mounting on wind turbines.
If you undertake bat surveys around wind farms the MC32W adaptor may be a useful addition to your kit. The MC32W provides easy mounting from the inside of the metallic WKA gondola and transmission of the microphone and GSM signal to the outside. The integrated tone generator offers a reliable, unattended operation. With daily test measurements, the functioning of the microphone can be monitored and quickly responded to any defects or sensitivity reduction - the signal/noise ratio gives a good indication about the microphone condition - ensuring that no bat call recordings will be lost due to a defective microphone. When using a BATLOGGER C with SMS/Email notification, the microphone test result is included in the daily status message.

Placement of the MC32W:
Choose an appropriate mounting place in the gondola. It is not possible to specify an exact place here, as there are a lot of different wind turbine types available.
To increase the life of your microphone, it should always be mounted with the opening facing the ground up to a maximum horizontal position to prevent moisture accumulation inside. Use a tripod or similar to easily mount and direct the microphone as needed.
Also, consider the surroundings of the microphone. Close objects or surfaces may reflect sound and distort recorded bat calls.

If you are using the MC32W with the Batlogger C with a SIM card to send SMS/email in a wind turbine Elekon advises to mount the LTE antenna supplied in the Batlogger outside the turbine with the microphone to increase the reception.
