The National Trust Insect Tower provides shelter and nesting spaces for a range of garden insects, including solitary bees, butterflies, ladybirds, lacewings and other small invertebrates.
The tower is divided into different sections, each designed to support different species. The tubes at the top provide nesting opportunities for solitary bees, such as Red Mason Bees. The vertical slots offer shelter for butterflies, while the lower sections provide spaces for ladybirds, lacewings and other insects to take refuge.
Encouraging beneficial insects into the garden can help support pollination and natural pest control. Species such as ladybirds and lacewings feed on aphids, while solitary bees play an important role in pollinating flowers, fruit and vegetables.
