Suitable for kingfishers or sand martins. You can use this nest box to recreate natural nesting sites that have been lost. They are ideal for the edges of waterways or on banks where it is difficult for the birds to dig their own tunnels.

Key Features:

  • Air-permeable
  • Long-lasting lightweight concrete
  • Designed for underground installation
  • Floor with a fine mesh grid to keep out rodents
  • Protected with a removable lid for cleaning

Kingfisher nesting habits: This "flying" jewel tends to use two different tunnels or tubes for its first and second brood. It is therefore advisable to put two Nest Tunnels in the same steep slope, keeping them at least 70 cm apart.

Sand Martin nesting habits: Colonies of never less than 12 breeding pairs of Sand Martins congregate on natural moving water or on naturally formed cliffs, as well as in gravel and clay pits.

Why are nest boxes important?

Natural nest sites are being lost having devastating consequences for bird species. Birds are an essential component of functioning ecosystems and have a direct impact on human populations and millions of other species. It is therefore important to provide our feathered friends with a home.
