Classic Little Owl Box without predator protection. Supplied with the clamping band and Aluminium Nails for fixing onto horizontal branches. Inspection and cleaning through the entrance hole are possible.
Why are nest boxes important?
Natural nest sites are being lost having devastating consequences for bird species. Birds are an essential component of functioning ecosystems and have a direct impact on human populations and millions of other species. It is therefore important to provide our feathered friends with a home.
MATERIAL: All the boxes have an aperture for inspection and cleaning purposes. They are made of a ring of wood or wood-concrete (depending on the model) surrounded by wooden battens and roofing felt.
EXTERNAL DIMENSIONS (MM): 830 (length)
INTERIOR CHAMBER (MM): ∅ 180
ENTRANCE (MM): 830
WEIGHT (KG): approx. 7.4
INCLUDES: Each of the four Little Owl Boxes is supplied with detailed description and maintenance instructions, and the Aluminium Nails needed to attach it to a branch.
SPECIES: Little Owl
SITING: Supplied with clamping band and Aluminium Nails for fixing onto horizontal branches. Coarse sawdust or wood shavings and a mixture of sand and sawdust are ideal as bedding.
The boxes should be placed on a horizontal branch of a fruit tree or in white willows, with the entrance hole facing the trunk. This discourages interference by passers-by and also makes it easier for the birds to fly in and out. If you don't have trees with suitable horizontal branches (e.g. some fruit trees), then you may want to consider the Schwegler Little Owl Box 22.
MAINTENANCE: inspection and cleaning can be done through the little owl entrance hole.
