Unique to Wildcare, the Soffit Bat Box is designed to make use of the unused space above the soffit on a standard roof structure. Once installed, it is virtually invisible from the outside, providing a discreet roosting opportunity for crevice-dwelling bat species.
The box is designed for installation behind the soffit board, with bats accessing the roost through a narrow entrance slot cut into the back of the soffit against the external wall. A specially designed plate is then fixed through into the bat box to secure it in place and provide a neat finish.
This self-cleaning design makes the Soffit Bat Box a practical option for developments, renovations and mitigation projects where a low-visibility bat roosting feature is required.

Siting & Installation
The Soffit Bat Box is installed above the soffit on a standard roof structure. The entrance is created by cutting a 20mm slot into the back of the soffit board, against the external wall.
A specially designed plate is then screwed through into the bat box to secure the unit and provide a tidy external finish.
Why Provide Roosting Spaces for Bats?
Bats are an important part of healthy ecosystems. They feed on insects, contribute to natural pest control and act as useful indicators of environmental health. Providing suitable roosting opportunities can help support bat populations, particularly where natural roosting features are limited or have been lost through building work.
