The Schwegler 2F Bat Box with Double Front Panel (2F-DFP) is a general-purpose bat box designed specifically for crevice-dwelling species. Based on the standard Schwegler 2F model, this version incorporates a second internal grooved wooden front panel, creating narrow roosting spaces preferred by bats that naturally occupy cracks, gaps and tight cavities.
This design makes the 2F-DFP particularly suitable as a starter box where the presence of crevice-loving bats is being assessed. It is commonly used in woodland, parkland and building-edge habitats as part of bat enhancement and mitigation schemes.

Installation
- Install on trees or buildings
- Minimum installation height: 3–4 metres
- Ensure a clear horizontal flight approach
- Attach using the supplied aluminium nail or hang from a suitable branch
Maintenance
The removable front panel allows for inspection and cleaning. To maintain optimal conditions, remove accumulated droppings once or twice per year, ensuring the box is unoccupied before carrying out any work.
