If you have mounted your SMM-U2 several feet off the ground, for example to a metrology tower or wind turbine, the Grounding Bracket protects the microphone from electrical surges that could damage it and SM4BAT recorder.
The Grounding bracket attaches to an SMM-U2. A grounding wire (not supplied) is attached to the bracket and run to an earth ground to direct electrical surges to ground rather than through the microphone. A stainless steel-screen covers the top of the microphone and directs any surges to the bracket and then to the grounding wire.
The SMM-U2 Grounding Bracket does not adversely affect recording quality - the stainless-steel screen is transparent to ultrasound.
Comes with: screws, washers, lock washers, and nuts preinstalled in the correct holes.
Please note: This system will also provide some protection for the SM4 or SM3 series of recorders but note that the best protection for these is the Surge Protector for SM3/SM4.
NOTE: The SMM-U2 microphone is not included.
