The Ibstock Bat Access Brick – Smooth Buff is a standard-sized clay brick designed to provide discreet bat access into buildings or wall cavities as part of integrated bat mitigation or enhancement schemes. Manufactured in a smooth buff finish, it blends into brickwork while creating an entrance point suitable for roost access.
Suitable for use in new build and renovation projects, the bat access brick can be incorporated into external walls to allow bats to enter a dedicated cavity or roost space within the structure.

Siting Guidance
- Position where the entrance can receive some solar warming
- Install with a clear flight path free from obstructions such as trees or nearby structures
- Avoid areas affected by artificial lighting, including streetlights
- Install at least 3m above ground level
- Avoid nearby ledges or features that could allow predator access
- A cavity chamber may be required behind the brick to maintain a suitable roosting void free from insulation material

Bats and their roosts are protected by law. Any works involving existing bat roosts or inspections should only be undertaken by appropriately licensed individuals where required.
