Elekon Batlogger M2 Bat Detector

The Elekon BATLOGGER M2 is a mobile ultrasonic bat detector designed for active surveys, including transects and bat walks. It records and displays full-spectrum bat calls in real time, providing detailed acoustic data alongside environmental and location information.

Using a weatherproof, omnidirectional SiSonic microphone, the BATLOGGER M2 records ultrasonic calls across a sensitivity range of 10–192kHz. Recordings are saved as .wav files with accompanying .xml metadata, including date, time, GPS position, temperature and other environmental data.

The device is designed for field use, with a simple push-button interface, built-in GPS, and an integrated voice microphone for recording spoken notes during surveys. Preset recording modes are available for common survey types such as transects or emergence counts, with the option to create custom profiles where required.

The BATLOGGER M2 is suited to ecologists carrying out active monitoring. It allows users to tag recordings during surveys and capture additional contextual information through voice notes and environmental sensors (temperature, humidity and light levels).

Data Handling

Recordings are stored on a microSD card and can be transferred either via USB-C connection or directly from the card. The device is compatible with BatExplorer software (and BatScope for Mac users) for further analysis.
