Pulsar Alaris XG30 Thermal Imaging Monocular
A Compact Thermal Powerhouse
The Pulsar Wildlife Alaris XG30 is a compact, high-performance thermal imaging monocular designed for wildlife observation. Small enough to fit in a pocket, it combines a highly detailed thermal sensor with a wide field of view, making it well suited to scanning open landscapes and locating animals at distance.
At its core is a 640 × 480, 12µm thermal sensor with <25 mK sNETD and <40 mK NETD. In simple terms, this means the device is capable of detecting very small temperature differences, helping to reveal subtle heat signatures even in challenging weather conditions. Paired with a 30mm f1.2 germanium objective lens, the XG30 can detect a heat source at distances of up to 1300 metres.
Wide Field of View
The XG30 offers a 14.6° field of view, equivalent to 25.6 metres at 100 metres. This wider viewing window allows you to scan large areas more efficiently, reducing the need for constant panning and making it easier to maintain situational awareness.
Clear Imaging & Magnification
- Magnification range: 2.0–16.0× (digital zoom)
- Frame rate: 50 Hz for smooth image movement
- High-contrast AMOLED display
The high-resolution sensor combined with digital magnification allows for both wide-area scanning and closer inspection when required.
Extended Observation
The Alaris XG30 is powered by a replaceable and rechargeable Pulsar APS3 battery, providing up to 7 hours of operation depending on conditions. Because the battery is removable, it can be swapped in the field to extend observation time.
Charging is via USB Type-C.
Built for Outdoor Conditions
The magnesium alloy body provides strength without excessive weight. The unit is IPX7 rated, meaning it is protected against water ingress and can withstand use in rain, fog and damp conditions. It operates in temperatures from -25°C to +40°C.
A rubberised strip along the underside improves grip in wet or dry conditions.
8 Colour Palettes
The XG30 features eight selectable colour palettes to optimise viewing depending on task and environment:
- White Hot, Black Hot, Red Hot – ideal for detection
- Rainbow, Ultramarine – assist with recognition and identification
- Red Monochrome, Sepia, Violet – suited to prolonged night observation
Recording & Connectivity
The device includes built-in video recording with audio and still image capture. Files are stored on 64GB of internal memory in MP4 (video) and JPG (image) formats.
Wi-Fi connectivity enables pairing with the Pulsar Wild Vision app (Android and iOS), allowing:
- Remote control via smartphone or tablet
- Wireless transfer of images and videos
- Firmware updates
