Wildcare’s Premium Reptile Survey Felts (1000 x 500mm) are designed for use in professional reptile surveys where larger artificial refugia are required. Made from a thicker grade of bitumen felt than standard options, they are better suited to long-term deployment and repeated monitoring.
Artificial refugia are a widely used survey method, providing consistent, inspectable habitat. Bitumen felt absorbs heat while offering shelter, creating conditions that encourage reptiles to bask and take cover.

Use in Surveys
These felts are typically deployed in multiple locations to support presence/absence surveys and ongoing monitoring. For best results, position in sunny areas close to suitable habitat such as rough grassland, scrub or field edges, and away from regular disturbance.
As with all artificial refugia, placement and surrounding habitat will influence survey outcomes.
