Wildcare’s Premium Reptile Survey Felts (500 x 500mm) are designed for use in reptile surveys where durable, long-term artificial refugia are required. Manufactured from a thicker grade of bitumen felt than standard options, they are better suited to extended deployments and repeated monitoring.
Artificial refugia are widely used in reptile surveys to provide consistent, surveyable habitat. Bitumen felt absorbs heat effectively while offering shelter, creating conditions that attract reptiles for basking and protection.

Use in Surveys
These felts are commonly deployed in large numbers to support presence/absence surveys and population monitoring. For best results, place in sunny locations close to suitable habitat features such as grassland, scrub or field margins, and away from regular disturbance.
As with all artificial refugia, positioning and habitat context will influence survey success.
