Schwegler 1MF Double Swift & Bat Nest Box
The Schwegler 1MF Double Swift & Bat Nest Box is a dual-purpose integrated box designed primarily to support breeding swifts, while also providing roosting space for crevice-dwelling bat species. It is well-suited to developments where multiple protected species need to be accommodated within a single, robust solution.
The box incorporates two separate swift brood chambers, each with its own entrance, allowing two pairs of swifts to brood successfully at the same time. Behind these chambers, a recessed rear space creates a dedicated roosting and nursery area for bats, suitable for species that naturally roost within buildings, such as pipistrelles.

Installation
The Swift & Bat Nest Box can be installed on external façades or beneath roofs on a wide range of structures, including residential buildings, industrial buildings, churches and walls. It is supplied with a galvanised mounting bracket, which is fixed to the substrate using screws and wall plugs. The box is then hung securely onto the bracket using integrated metal studs.
For alternative bricked-in installations, a compatible base block is required (see accessory below).
Accessory
Schwegler Base Block with Bat Slope 1MF (10149)
This base block is designed to be installed beneath the 1MF box to provide a sloping access route behind the unit for bats. The base block is bricked in first, with the 1MF box positioned on top and then bricked in or grouted as part of the wall construction.
Maintenance
The swift brood chambers are easy to inspect and clean, with front panels that can be fully removed by releasing the locking hooks. The rear bat roost area is maintenance-free, allowing droppings to fall clear at the base of the box.

SPECIES: The design, shape, and texture of the rear bat area are created to meet the needs of bat species that live in buildings, such as the pipistrelle bat. Swifts.
SITING: A specially shaped mounting bracket is fixed onto the respective substrate (e.g. building façade) with three screws/wall plugs. The two metal studs integrated into the rear of the box are used to hang the 1MF in the fixing bracket. Note: The Base Block described below is always required for alternative bricking-in. On external façades or under the roofs of all kinds of buildings, for example, houses, industrial buildings, churches, road structures, walls, or even cliffs and rock faces. Thanks to its robust design, 1MF can also be used in sunny, exposed locations with no problem at all.
MAINTENANCE: The two brood chambers for Swifts are very easy to clean, as each of the front panels can be removed completely by undoing the locking hook. The rear Bat area is maintenance-free, as the droppings can fall out readily at the bottom
