The Timber Dormouse Box is designed to provide suitable nesting habitat for hazel dormice. Developed in line with current expert guidance, it offers a secure space that can be used for resting, breeding, shelter or overwintering.
The entrance hole is positioned on the rear of the box, facing the tree trunk. Two spacer bars across the back keep the box slightly away from the trunk, allowing safe access while reducing exposure. A lift-off roof enables monitoring by licensed and experienced personnel.
Constructed from FSC-certified spruce wood and finished with a water-based varnish, the box is suitable for installation in woodland, hedgerows and dense garden planting.
