The WoodStone Bat Tube is a built-in bat roost designed for integration into new build and renovation projects. Suitable for masonry and rendered facades, it provides secure crevice-style roosting space for a range of bat species and can function as a summer roost, mating site, and, in mild winters, as a hibernation space.

The bat tube is divided into two internal compartments with 22mm crevice spaces, providing conditions suited to crevice-dwelling bats. Access is gained via the entrance slot at the base and internal openings between the chambers.

Multiple bat tubes can be linked together to create larger roosting areas. When at least three units are connected, the system can function as a maternity roost.

The WoodStone® construction provides excellent thermal stability and a rough internal surface to help bats grip and move within the roost. The durable materials are designed for long-term integration into buildings and require minimal maintenance once installed.

Siting:

The bat tube should be installed as high as possible within the facade, with a clear flight path to the entrance. Avoid positioning where vegetation, blinds, or other structures may obstruct access. The roost should not be illuminated by external lighting.

Boxes can be installed on elevations facing any direction. Avoid positioning directly above doors, windows, or balconies where droppings may become a nuisance.

Maintenance:

Built-in bat roosts are generally maintenance free, although periodic inspection may be advisable where access is possible. Any cleaning or inspection should only be carried out when it is certain that bats are not present.
