The Schwegler 1FF Flat Bat Box is a large crevice-style roost designed for use as a summer roost or nursery site. Its flat profile and open-bottom design make it suitable for installation on trees and buildings, including steep or exposed locations.
This model incorporates a built-in roughened wooden rear panel in addition to the woodcrete body. The combination of materials allows bats to select between the cooler woodcrete surface or the slightly warmer wooden panel, helping to moderate temperature fluctuations during spring and autumn.

Maintenance

SPECIES: The vertical and horizontal narrowing of the box makes it very suitable for all crevice-inhabiting Bat species, such as pipistrelle and noctule bats. It offers the animals optimum interior depth wherever it is hung up, i.e. back contact on and with the wood or wood concrete on the inside.
SITING: This box has proved highly effective under practical conditions everywhere, in gardens and forests as well as on urban buildings and balconies, and is best positioned at a height of between 4 to 6 metres.
Thanks to the central fixing only a nail or screw is required to fix the box securely in position; an added advantage on lightweight panel walls or in rented accommodation. There is a radial recess at the rear that enables good and steady installation on masts or tree trunks. Thanks to its additional four support points it can also be attached securely to houses, garages, towers, hunting hides, and walls.
MAINTENANCE: The box is open at the bottom, allowing droppings to fall out so it does not need cleaning
