The Green&Blue SwiftLoft is an integrated nesting unit designed to be installed within the soffit and fascia cavity of a building. Suitable for both new build and retrofit projects, it provides a long-term nesting space for swifts while remaining discreet within the structure of the property.
As modern construction methods reduce natural nesting gaps, integrated solutions such as the SwiftLoft help reinstate breeding habitat within the fabric of a home or development. Once installed, only the entrance hole is visible externally.
Versions Available
- New Build Version: Designed for installation during construction or when new soffits and fascias are being fitted.
- Retrofit Version: Supplied with an additional PVC soffit tile for installation into existing soffits.
The only difference between the two versions is that the retrofit model includes the PVC tile required for fitting into an existing soffit.
Design & Construction
The SwiftLoft is manufactured in the UK from recycled and recyclable Correx plastic with a concrete board insert. It is lightweight, durable and designed to remain in place without ongoing maintenance.

Siting Guidance
- Install at least 5 metres above ground level
- Position on the side of the building receiving the least direct sunlight
- Do not install above windows or near vents
- Avoid locations with predator access
- Ensure clear adjacent airspace for high-speed flight access
The entrance opening must be cut into the soffit board (not the fascia board). Due to installation height requirements, professional fitting is recommended.

Encouraging Colonies
Swifts are colonial breeders and readily nest near one another. Installing multiple SwiftLofts is recommended. Swift Conservation advises a minimum of two nest units per house, with larger numbers appropriate for commercial developments.

The SwiftLoft is designed to require no ongoing maintenance once installed.

Positioning
The SwiftLoft should be positioned at least 5m from ground level, on a side of the building that gets shade during the day, away from windows and vents and predator access. SwiftLoft should also be placed in a spot with clear adjacent access, allowing high speed, direct flight entry.
