Small Habibat Bat Box featuring an integrated V system to maximise roosting space.

or

The Habibat 3S Built-in Bat Box is a compact, solid concrete bat box designed to be integrated into the fabric of a building during construction or renovation. It provides an internal roosting space for building-dwelling bat species while remaining discreet within the finished façade.

The Habibat 3S is a smaller version of the Habibat 001 and can be supplied with an open or closed top for stacking. It can also be faced or coursed to suit the design of the building, helping the box blend in with the surrounding brick, block, stone, wood or render finish.

Key Features

  • Compact built-in bat box for new-build and renovation projects
  • Made from insulating concrete
  • Single-chambered internal roost space
  • Integrated V system
  • Suitable for common UK building-roosting bat species
  • Can be supplied with an open or closed top for stacking
  • Can be faced or coursed to suit the building design
  • Suitable for brick, block, stone, wood or rendered finishes
  • Designed to sit discreetly within the building façade

Suitable Species

The Habibat 3S is suitable for bat species commonly found roosting in buildings in the UK, including Pipistrelle, Natterer’s, Whiskered and Brandt’s bats.

Siting & Installation

Install the Habibat 3S where it will receive as much sunlight as possible. In the UK, south, south-west or south-east aspects are generally preferred.

Position the box at least 2m above ground level, although 5m to 7m is preferable where possible. A location near the eaves or gable apex is recommended.

Avoid placing the box directly above windows, doors or wall-climbing plants, as this may increase the risk of predation by cats.

Where possible, position the box close to linear vegetation features such as hedges and treelines. These can help bats navigate between roosting and feeding areas while avoiding open, exposed spaces.

Facing Options

  • Unfaced for render finish with red, blue or buff plinth
  • Standard finish in smooth red, blue or buff brick
  • Bespoke facing options may include brick, block, stone, wood or render finishes

SPECIES: The Habibat box is suitable for species that are most commonly found roosting in buildings in the UK, such as Pipistrelle, Natterer's, Whiskered, and Brandt's bats.

SITING: Habibat should be located where it will receive the maximum amount of sunlight. In the northern hemisphere, this will be the southerly aspects/orientation (south, south-west and south-east).

Position Habibat a minimum of 2 metres but preferably 5 to 7 metres above the ground. Avoid placement above windows, doors and wall climbing plants, thereby reducing the likelihood of predation by cats. A position near the eaves or gable apex of the property would be preferable.

To make Habibat a potential roost for a wider range of bat species, it is helpful to consider whether there are nearby linear vegetation features such as hedges and treelines. This is because some bat species use these features for navigation between their roosting site and feeding ground and to avoid flying in open and exposed areas.
