The Valencia Double Crevice WoodStone® Bat Box (VK WS 12) is a façade-mounted bat roost divided into two separate compartments, creating different internal microclimates within a single unit. This allows bats to move between slightly varied temperature conditions depending on their needs.
Finished in black, the box warms more quickly when installed in shaded or cooler locations. It is suitable for use as a summer and/or breeding roost and, in mild winters, may also provide shelter.
Construction
The box is manufactured from WoodStone® – a durable blend of 100% FSC®-certified wood fibres and concrete. This material provides strength, insulation and long-term weather resistance. The internal structure includes two crevice compartments (each approximately 2 cm wide), offering roosting spaces suited to crevice-dwelling species.

Suitable Species
Use will depend on local distribution and habitat, but as a summer or breeding roost the box is suitable for:

Installation Guidance
- Install on building façades only (not suitable for trees)
- Minimum installation height: 3 metres
- Can face any wind direction
- Ensure a clear flight path to and from the box
- Do not position above doors or windows
- Avoid illuminated façades or nearby artificial lighting
- Installing multiple boxes at varying heights and aspects is recommended
Maintenance
The box can be cleaned once annually in winter, preferably during a frost period, and only when unoccupied. A long-handled brush can be used to remove cobwebs and debris.
