The Cavity Bat Box is designed for British bat species that naturally roost in tree cavities. It provides a larger internal space compared to crevice-style boxes, making it suitable for species that prefer open roosting environments.

Manufactured from FSC® certified exterior grade plywood, the box features a black exterior to increase heat absorption and internal ceramic heat sinks to help stabilise temperature conditions within the roost.

Species Suitability

Suitable for UK cavity-dwelling bats including brown long-eared, Daubenton’s, Natterer’s, whiskered and Brandt’s bats. Other species may also use the box depending on location.

Siting & Installation

Can be installed on buildings, trees or other suitable structures. Position the box as high as possible in a sheltered, sunny location. Installing multiple boxes with different orientations can provide a range of conditions.

Maintenance

The base panel slides out for cleaning or inspection where permitted. Any inspection should only be carried out by a licensed bat worker.
