WoodStone Built-In Swift Box (Protruding Entrance for Rendered Walls)

The Rendered WoodStone Built-In Swift Box is designed to integrate seamlessly into UK brickwork, matching the height of two standard brick courses and the length of two standard bricks. This sizing reduces or eliminates the need for cutting bricks during installation, making it suitable for both new builds and retrofit projects.

Manufactured from durable WoodStone – a blend of FSC-certified wood fibres and concrete – the box provides long-term durability and good thermal stability. The entrance hole protrudes 20mm beyond the wall surface, allowing for straightforward rendering and leaving a neat circular finish with a slotted opening visible.

The box contains two internal nest pans and features a centrally positioned entrance, allowing installation either way up. It is fitted into the outer skin of brick or blockwork and protrudes approximately 50mm into the cavity.

This swift box is also available in an alternative version for a different wall finish. The rendered wall version has a protruding entrance designed to sit proud during installation, so the builder can render or finish around it and leave the entrance flush with the final wall surface. The flush face version does not have a protruding entrance, so it should be built directly into brickwork or blockwork with the front face sitting flush at the point of installation.

Siting Guidance

• Install on the north or east-facing gable end
• Position three brick courses below the roofline
• Minimum installation height of 4 metres above ground level
• Ensure a clear flight path free from trees or shrubs
• Install multiple boxes together for colony nesting
• Maintain at least 40cm spacing between boxes
• Install with the entrance hole positioned on the right

The box is suitable for cavity wall construction provided the cavity is at least 100mm wide. This prevents contact with the inner skin of brickwork and avoids potential thermal bridging.
